Moving on from Tavira we stopped off at the anchor graveyard at Praio do Barril beach.
You walk along the wooden walkway by the little train track to the beautiful sandy beach. At the fisherman buildings you find the anchor graveyard. The anchors used to be used for weighing down the tuna nets, but when the tuna numbers started to decline the local fishermen moved on, leaving only their anchors, neatly lined up and now visited as an art installation.
