The van is packed, our final possessions that aren’t coming with us have gone, and we’ve said some tearful goodbyes. Our first tour begins!
We didn’t want to start off too far from home, still a bit unsure how well the rabbits would react to travelling and life in the van. We found an overnight stop about 1 hour from home – via a tourist day out at @longleatofficial – NO we didn’t go through the monkey enclosure 🐵 but we did enjoy a tour of the house and the gardens.
For overnight suggestions, we’ve bought the #BritStops book. This is a guide to all sorts of places where you can park up overnight for free, and it’s nice to show appreciation to your hosts – ie if it’s a pub – buy your dinner or a drink there, a vineyard – buy a bottle of wine.
We found an overnight stop at @thesomersetarms – a great pub in the lovely village of Semington. The food was excellent – (E halloumi & beetroot burger with chips, D pork belly with veg). The car park was round the back of the pub, nice and quiet with an inbuilt alarm of a little dog in the neighbouring garden who went mental anytime anyone walked past his fence…or our van 😁🐶
