Sockets and switches

USB plugs

We’ve had some fun installing the sockets and switches 💡
First decision was which ones to get. Some people use standard 220v house components. We wanted something a little more compact and opted for CBE sets – they’re module based, stack and snap them together. With the lower sections fixed to a wall, the final cover snaps on to hide the fixings.
It’s surprising just how bad the options are for compact 12v switches / outlets, unlike the housing market that has lots of variety.
We also looked for 12v usb outlets that would look good, deciding on a standard 12v CBE outlet (to match the rest of the switches and plugs) and then inserted mini usb car plugs.
We have either surface mounted directly into the walls or in places created a mounting box out of 15mm ply to provide more space.
