Storage going in

Building the wardrobe

As you saw in an earlier post the bed frame has gone in so our wardrobe can go in above it.
We’ve built the frame of the wardrobe outside the van and it’s then been moved in as one monster frame and screwed securely to the walls. The frame will be open at the bottom – we’ll be using the bed frame as the base of the cupboard.
The back end of the cupboards is going to be shelving for the garage/boot area. The front end is going to be kitchen shelving.
The middle we’ve split into two cupboards – one each.
Each cupboard has a large hold space down to the bed base and then two shelves.
We’ve used @anniesloanhome chalk paint for the doors, two coats with a coat of satin varnish over the top. The doors are mounted with brass hinges and brass catches.
Predictably the doors rattle when we’re driving the van, so as a temporary solution we’ve added little cork coin stickers on the doors and shelves to try and help.
In the house sale we got rid of most of our clothes at car boot sales…but we may have to thin them out a bit more to fit 🙄🚙
