Table – we need somewhere to eat and work in the van.
At the Motorhome shows at the NEC, we’d seen tables in vans that have a hidden mini table that swivels out from under the main table.
We searched high and low for the table leg that does this, they were all sold out in the UK though, but we found one in Germany from Camping Kaufhaus 🚙
If there’s something you’ve seen in a van at a show, and you can’t find it in the UK, these guys seem to have a lot of items at reasonable prices.
We tried to find a pre-cut table, but again couldn’t. We found Evo Motion Design UK who along with selling bespoke van furniture, also sell lightweight ply – we got half a board of 15mm lightweight ply with white matt laminate on both sides. They do sell the laminate edging (rout out the middle of the ply edge and stick it in) but we wanted our ply table to match the rest of the van – with its ply edges showing. So we gave it lots of coats of varnish to protect it a bit 🙄
To support the table on the van wall we added a sliding table rail. This attaches the table to the van wall, but we can lift it off if we don’t want the table in the living space.
