Our bed is going to be permanently out in the van and raised half way up the van, over a garage storage area.
At the very start of the build we measured how much space we wanted in the garage area.
We installed two strong wood beams on each side of the van and put in bolts to hold in two pieces of 90° aluminium angle.
We ordered 3 aluminium box frames from Paul Hart Welding in Yeovil.
To the top of each of these frames we’ve fixed 5mm hardwood ply which we’ve varnished several times.
We’ve then put these frames horizontally across the van. These will form the base of the bed and the wardrobe cupboard.
This frame will allow us to fit in a full size double mattress.
