We decided to install a roof rack to put some solar panels on. We’ve gone for a Fiamma rack, which doesn’t require drilling into the roof of the van to fix in place. Also, in our grand plans it seemed to be the only roof rail that would allow an awning on an H3 van.
You know there’s a ‘but’ on its way…
Turns out that if you have an H3 van, you can only get the awnings for left hand drive vans (with the sliding door on the right of the vehicle), so until they get enough call to make the brackets for vans with their sliding doors on the left hand side we’ll either go without or if one day we’re feeling brave, a drilling bodge job!
The rack itself was pretty easy to install as it’s lightweight for putting together on the floor and then hoisting up onto the roof. All ready for solar panels 🌞
