What did we do with that double passenger seat we took out?

In an earlier post you saw us putting in a new single seat in place of the original double passenger seat.
We knew that we wanted to have a double seat in the rear of the van – to make a sort of dining area. But when we looked into prices for pre-built double passenger seats, we found that they were quite pricey 💰
We thought “hang on, we’ve got a readymade double seat – why can’t we use that?” As with everything in this van build, we thought that it couldn’t be that tricky to install it in the rear…OR COULD IT!!! We found a brilliant welder at Crackmore Garage in Milborne Port, where we were based.
They built a frame especially for our seat, which they welded into the frame of the van, and we were able to use the same bolt system that the double seats use in the front cab of the van.
The frame allows this double seat to be placed at a similar height to the front seats making a four seater eating area. We’ll add a raised floor later in the build for the seating area 💺🚐
