Porto

Porto view from south of river

Another day, another city. This time we were checking out Porto. As usual we parked up outside of the city, so got to catch the local bus in, which sped us down some tiny little roads squeezed inbetween houses. We jumped off at probably the most famous of Porto’s six bridges, the Luis I bridge. From here we wandered over to Livaria Lello, a bookshop opened in 1906 with beautiful architecture and some rather fantastic books. It’s also famed for having been a favourite haunt of J.K.Rowling when she lived in Porto, so it now has a Harry Potter room too.
We then visited the Clérigos Tower to get some good views over the city.
As we walked down towards the river we saw several of the churches with their sides covered in the famous painted tiles of Portugal.
At the river we hopped onto a river cruise to see the 6 bridges of Porto and some of the other sights of the city.
After lunch we wandered around the streets again taking in the sights of the city… and weirdly being offered illegal drugs several times – we obviously look a bit dodgy!
