Connecting up the gas

LPG sticker on van

Connecting things up takes more planning in advance.
When we first got the van we went to Campertec in Shepton Mallet who installed our underslung Gas-It tank – this will hold our LPG which will be the fuel source for our boiler/hot water/hob. Once the tank was installed we then had to leave it until we had the rest of the gas appliances installed before we could connect anything up.
We were happy to have a professional connect up our gas, and it’s best to have someone who can sign off a gas certificate for you too. We went to Out and About Motorhome and Caravan Services @outaboutmotorhomecaravanservices based near Peterborough.
These guys know their motorhomes!
They were really happy to help us with our install and able to recommend safe use of our boiler & gas appliances.
They connected the Truma boiler to the flue we’d already cut in the wall of the van, and connected it to the gas tank. They also lay the extremely tiny gas pipes from the gas tank to the hob.
Once everything was connected, we went to a nearby garage to put some LPG in the tank, popped back to Out and About to have the final test….Yaaaay heating, hot water and hot food!
