More holes!?

Drop out hole in the van

Just when you thought our van was already full of holes, we needed to make it more like a cheese grater! 🧀
Under each of our gas appliances we need to have a drop out vent. In the event of a gas leak they allow the gas which is heavier than air to ‘drop out’ of the van.
We put these drop out holes into the floor under the kitchen units where we were having the gas hob & gas connections, and another hole under the gas connection for the boiler.
We also needed to pop a hole in for the waste water coming out of the sink to go into the grey waste tank underneath the van.
These holes had to go in before we installed the kitchen units, so we marked them up when we had the kitchen units in to test locate them, making sure we wouldn’t hit anything on the way through.
For the holes we drilled a pilot hole from the outside in, then used a hole saw to drill through from the inside to the out. We tidied up the hole and sealed it with some Hammerite. Glued in the plastic drop out vent/waste pipe and then used Wax oyl to seal up the underside of the van.
