This privacy policy applies to our use of any and all Data collected by us or provided by you in relation to your use of the Website.

Scope of this privacy policy

This privacy policy applies only to the actions of GatehouseGetaway and Users with respect to this Website. It does not extend to any websites that can be accessed from this Website including, but not limited to, any links we may provide to social media websites.

For purposes of the applicable Data Protection Laws, GatehouseGetaway is the “data controller”. This means that GatehouseGetaway determines the purposes for which, and the manner in which, your Data is processed.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

We collect data in two ways, data that is given to us by you and data that is collected automatically.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. GatehouseGetaway uses cookies to help GatehouseGetaway identify and track visitors, their usage of GatehouseGetaway website, and their website access preferences. GatehouseGetaway visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using GatehouseGetaway’s website, with the drawback that certain features of GatehouseGetaway’s website may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

It is recommended that you ensure that your internet browser is up-to-date and that you consult the help and guidance provided by the developer of your internet browser if you are unsure about adjusting your privacy settings.
For more information generally on cookies, including how to disable them, please refer to aboutcookies.org. You will also find details on how to delete cookies from your computer.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behave in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Analytics

Like most website operators, GatehouseGetaway collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. GatehouseGetaway ’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how GatehouseGetaway’s visitors use its website. From time to time, GatehouseGetaway may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

To do this we may use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor behaviour patterns. This is for our own purposes to find out which pages are most popular on our website, and to research user patterns within the website. We do not access any of your personal data using Google and we do not allow Google or anyone else to make an attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our site.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. Please contact us via this e-mail address: contact@gatehousegetaway.com.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

How we protect your data

We take all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

We will use technical and organisational measures to safeguard your Data, for example: access to your account is controlled by a password and a user name that is unique to you; we store your Data on secure servers.

If you suspect any misuse or loss or unauthorised access to your Data, please let us know immediately by contacting us via this e-mail address: contact@gatehousegetaway.com.

If any competent authority finds that any provision of this privacy policy (or part of any provision) is invalid, illegal or unenforceable, that provision or part-provision will, to the extent required, be deemed to be deleted, and the validity and enforceability of the other provisions of this privacy policy will not be affected.

Unless otherwise agreed, no delay, act or omission by a party in exercising any right or remedy will be deemed a waiver of that, or any other, right or remedy.
