Orador sur Glane

Had a very sobering day visiting Orador sur Glane.

This is a village that is completely preserved as it was from a Nazi invasion on 10th June 1944. Apart from 7 who escaped, all 643 villagers and refugees were killed by the Nazi troops that visited that morning. The men were split into 5 different buildings in the village and shot. The women and children were trapped into the church, shot and then burned. The village has been kept as it was as a memorial to the villagers and refugees who lost their lives that day. It is a stark reminder of the horrors of war and the unkindness of humans, a lesson we still need to be reminded about.
