Valencia

Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias

Valencia was another city stop we couldn’t miss out on on our way down through Spain. We stopped at an aire in El Sabor, a nature reserve just on the outskirts of the city. From here you can catch the bus into town in 15 minutes.
After visiting the huge architectural complex that is Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, we walked up what used to be the old river through Valencia, after a storm the river was re-routed leaving an area that was made into a landscaped park.
We visited the Museu de Belles Arts and saw art by Valencian artists including Goya. We followed this up with a trip to the Institut Valencia d’Art Modern for a bit of an art contrast.
After lunch at an excellent Costa Rican cafe outside the Central market, we went to visit La Lonja with its spiral columns and intricately decorated ceilings.
We topped the day off with a visit to a pet store for hay supplies for the rabbits before heading back to the van.
