Where do you put your water pump?

Water pump etc

On your handy wheel arch cover of course!
Fresh water comes into the tank via the filler cap we installed at the beginning of the build. This has an extra return air hose, to vent the tank when the water is filling it up and the pump is drawing water out.
Water leaves the tank into a filter, down to the Shurflo pump and into an accumulator which keeps pressure regulated in the system. The pump is connected to a switch, so it is only on when we need water pumped around the system.
We then split the water pipes off to go to various places around the van.
We have used 12mm John Guest flexible plastic hose along with the push fit connections.
One way the water heads off to the boiler where it can be heated. Another way the cold water feed heads to the sink via a filter, so we can drink water directly from the tap. The water also goes off to a shower point located at the end of the kitchen unit and the hot water tap in the sink.
We’ve put a mini waste trap under the sink, and connected the hose from the sink plug to the grey waste tank under the van.
We’re quite good at making sure the push fittings are connected now – we had a couple loose at the first run through, which was…wet 🙄
Later on in the build we’ll add a monitor to the fresh water tank, so we can see what’s left in there at the push of a button, and be ready to fill it up.
Lesson learned – looking back, we think we need to install a tank drain to make it easier to drain the water tank in future, rather than having to send it all the way through the system to drain 🚿
